Who we are

Untangle (“we”, “us”) provides plain-English guidance for people going through a divorce or separation in England & Wales. We act as the data controller for the personal information you share with us through this service.

What we collect, and why

  • Account information (email, password, optional phone number for 2-step verification) — so you can sign in safely.
  • The answers you give us (your situation, timeline, draft documents) — so we can build your personalised plan and store your work between visits.
  • Basic technical data (device type, error logs) — to keep the service working.

How we look after it

Your information is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to a small number of staff who need it to support you. We offer 2-step verification on every account.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and case data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we're required by law to keep limited records (e.g. for tax or fraud prevention).

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy in a portable format. You can do most of this yourself from the Settings page, or contact us using the details below. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Guidance, not legal advice

Untangle provides general information and document drafting tools. It is not a law firm. Using Untangle does not create a solicitor–client relationship. For advice specific to your situation, please consult a qualified solicitor.
